CHS students were very successful in a recent local history competition marking the 750th anniversary of Congleton receiving its charter. The Congleton Young Persons Documenting History Competition challenged students to produce a project on an aspect of local history inspired by the charter year celebrations.

Joseph P was the winner in the 8-12 category with a superb project on the history of transport in our local area. Emily V was runner up with a film on Congleton’s history produced jointly with a student from Eaton Bank Academy, whilst Holly W’s project received a High Commended award.

The students were presented with their awards at Congleton Town Hall in an event where local dignitaries dressed in period costume. Congratulations go to all of the students involved.
