We welcomed twenty-two volunteers from businesses, public services, armed forces and our own governing body to conduct mock interviews with our Year 11 students in October.

In advance of the event, the cohort prepared a CV and letter of application for one of the jobs 'advertised' and then took their turn being interviewed. The students gained an insight into how to answer interview-style questions, develop interview strategies, improve confidence and communication skills, and also how to help reduce stress before an actual job interview.

Following the interviews, the employers gave the students lots of useful and constructive feedback to help them grow and improve. Despite the nerves, our students said that they gained a lot from their experience and that they valued the feedback they received.

This opportunity was designed to give students experience of a real interview situation to help them with their future preparations for university, apprenticeships or employment.

Once again we would like to say a very big thank you to all the volunteers and businesses, along with our Sixth Form College team, who gave up their time to support this event.
